Steve Bentsen, DVM

Steve Bentsen is a Valley native. He attended Texas Tech before transferring to Texas A&M for his BS and DVM. After four years of mixed animal practice in Kingsville he returned to the Valley in 1975 and established Nolana Animal Hospital.  Nature, the outdoors and photography have been life-long passions.  He has served on the boards of many local non-profit organizations focused on those interests.  He was one of the founders of the Valley Land fund and also served many years on the board of Palm Valley Animal Center and PAWS. In addition to veterinary medicine, Dr. Bentsen has been a free-lance wildlife photographer for many years, providing images for publications worldwide.  He spends his spare time on a small ranch in Starr County that he owns and operates and where he hopes to spend his retirement years.

Andy Baker, DVM

Andy Baker is a native of Altus, Oklahoma. He attended Veterinary School at Oklahoma State University followed by a surgical residency at Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine. He then served two years in the Air Force and practiced for a short while in Miami, Florida, before moving to Houston where he did surgery referral practice until moving to McAllen. He became a partner at Nolana Animal Hospital in 1989. He continues to practice specializing in surgery, orthopedics and neurology. He is an active fisherman, golfer and private pilot.

 

Robert Ramos, DVM

Dr. Robert Ramos is a Rio Grande Valley native who attended Texas A&M University, earning a BS in biomedical science and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.  He returned to the valley shortly after graduating from vet school in 2014. Dr. Ramos joined the Nolana Animal Hospital family in 2016 and currently serves on the developmental board at the Laurie P. Andrews PAWS Center, the McAllen/Edinburg area animal shelter. He is also serving as President of the Valley Veterinary Medical Association for 2019. He married his high school sweetheart in 2009 and he and his wife have a 14 year old Chihuahua named Spike. They are expecting their very first child in July of 2019.
